The theme of the July breakfast, Australia’s eHealth Landscape, will be presented by Professor Bill Caelli with guest speaker, Dr Andy Bond, Chief Scientist, National eHealth Transition Authority (NeHTA). This breakfast is scheduled for: Time: 7.00am (for a 7.30am start) - 9.30am Date: Wednesday 12 July Venue: OJ Wordsworth Room Electronic health information (or eHealth) systems which can securely and efficiently exchange data can significantly improve how information is communicated between healthcare professionals resulting in substantial benefits in terms of quality, safety and efficiency. However there are a number of concerns surrounding the use and safety of e-health systems including security and privacy of information. In his talk Andy will discuss why a National eHealth Agenda is necessary and the major challenges which need to be addressed in order to successfully establish such an initiative. Bill will follow Andy’s talk with a discussion on Hardening the eHealth Infrastructure. Bill’s talk will draw on the Faculty’s eHealth Research Program as well as current eHealth developments from the UK Cabinet Office and the USA. He will also address an ARC funded project which is investigates eHealth techniques in a low-cost system environment. Please contact Glen (g.dagwell@qut.edu.au, x1912) if you would like to attend.
